I believe that nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician assistants (PAs) are a very large part of frontline healthcare, and will have an even larger role in the future. The population of the United States is increasing, and there is already a doctor shortage. I believes that this problem will continue to grow over the next decade and that NPs and PAs will become an even larger portion of frontline medical care.
I also believe that YOU play a vital role in your own healthcare. It is my passion to teach you how to be your own best patient advocate, how to lead a healthy lifestyle, and how to manage your health problems.
My wife, Amanda Brulte, is a family nurse practitioner, so I've had a front row seat to watch the ever-growing demands on nurse practitioners. She refers to me as her “phone-a-friend” when she is at work, and often calls for collaboration for medical diagnoses and patient care plans. I have also assisted numerous nurse practitioners in their medical practice, and would love to help you become more proficient in your medical profession.
Amanda brings the perspective of a nurse practitioner to the table. She has worked in the field of pediatrics for nearly eight years, and has recently begun a career in palliative care. Amanda received her Associate of Science in Nursing from South Georgia State College, and her BSN and MSN from Georgia Southern University. She is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
As an ER doctor, I have over 25 years of clinical experience, and I have seen many tens of thousands of patients. I received a dental degree and a medical degree from Louisiana State University, and I completed my residency in Birmingham, Alabama.
I have seen all age groups of patients with problems ranging from minor to critical.
Throughout this time and experience, I have developed a philosophical approach and a method to patient care that I believe will benefit the healthcare professionals of today, and on into the future!
My basic philosophy is to treat each patient as if they are a member of my own family, and to provide the medical care that I would want my own family members to receive - no matter what obstacles are encountered with this approach.
Taking care of patients following my approach will lead to patient trust and positive outcomes. This will ultimately lead to your success as a healthcare professional. I believe that taking care of patients should ultimately be done by people that want to do this, and that want to help others in need!
Dr. Brulte’s wife, Amanda Brulte, is a family nurse practitioner. She is also a strong patient advocate, and is passionate about health and wellness.
“It’s just a whole lot better to go to the grocery store and have people offer to carry your bags out, than to go to the grocery store and have people glare at you!”
-Dr. Mark Brulte
In our free time, Amanda and I enjoy spending time with our girls. Whether it be watching them ride their horses, swim, or play tennis, there is nowhere else we would rather be!
